Peppermint is a cross between watermint and spearmint. It is indigenous to Europe and the middle east. Its’  leaves are commonly used worldwide as a culinary herb. Peppermint is well known for its versatile function from aiding pain to refreshing beverages and mouthwashes. It is an amazing oil to keep in your cupboards.

HISTORICAL USES:

In ancient Egypt times Peppermint was used to to ease stomach ailments and was also used during the Middle Ages by Holy Monks to clean their teeth and drive away rodents from cheese store rooms.

Not only is Peppermint known for the pleasant smell that encourages alertness, but also for its ability to fight a number of ailments but not limited to loss of sense of smell, typhoid, hot flashes and gastritis. Peppermint has a soothing and cooling effect on the skin.

Headache and Migraine

Massage 1-2 drops  into temples and base of skull, avoiding the eyes. You can add a drop of Lavender for support as well.

 

Asthma and Cough

Apply 2 drops with carrier oil over chest and lung area, or diffuse. You can also inhale over a sink of warm water to assist clear breathing. 


Muscle and Joint Pain

For overexertion or muscle strain, Rub a drop of Peppermint diluted with a carrier oil into sore muscles or affected areas to soothe and support recovery. 


Fevers

Apply 1-2 drops to the back of neck. Repeat as needed.
