FAQ

What Are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are plant extracts. Essential oils are considered “Essential” as they contain the original essence of the plant they were extracted from.

What Colour Bottle Is Best For Essential Oils?
As the sun’s UV rays increase oil temperatures they cause deterioration in the quality of your oils. Storing pure essential oils in a colored glass container is highly recommended. Colored containers, such as amber and blue, and frosted glass containers reflect the sun’s rays and protect oils.

Is It OK To Put Essential Oils In Plastic Bottles?
Yes... and no.
Because Pure essential oils are very powerful, they need to be stored in airtight containers made of glass.
Due to the strength of the oils, plastic containers can break down over time, causing damaging leaks and the loss of your oils.

However, because Diluted essential oils are mixed with carrier oils which help to dilute the strength of the pure essential oils, diluted oils can be safely stored in plastic containers.

Whichever type you use, always make sure to use a high-quality, airtight lid and seal bottles, store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of children.

How Many Drops Of Essential Oils Do You Put In A Roller Bottle?
The amount of drops that are used in each blend will differ.
For general rule of thumb, a 10ml everyday-use blend would have between 6-10 drops of Essential oils.
If the 10ml blend is for children or those with sensitive skin, between 3-4 drops of Essential oils will suffice.

However, every recipe will have its own drop count. The best way of measuring if a blend is right for you is to test it on a patch of skin and check the results before you incorporate it into your everyday regime.

If the skin becomes irritated stop using it immediately.

Can You Re-use Essential Oil Roller Bottles?
You sure can! Just follow the instructions given below under “How do you sterilize essential oil bottles?”

How Do You Sterilize Essential Oil Bottles?
Soak your bottles in warm soapy water for 10-15 minutes. Any labels that were on the bottles will probably start peeling off at this point, remove whatever still remains.

Shake out the excess water, and fill each bottle to the top with baking soda to remove residual smells then leave to sit overnight.

In the morning, wash out the baking soda and leave to dry and you’re done!
Now all that needs doing is to refill them with your exciting new blends!
